Substitutes

Thank you for your interest in becoming a substitute teacher.  The Randolph County School System seeks to employ well-qualified persons to staff classrooms in the absence of regular teachers.  The role of a substitute teacher is one of extreme importance for students as well as other school staff members.  Whenever the regular classroom teacher is absent, the substitute teacher assumes substantial responsibilities for carrying out the educational program and safety of a classroom of students.

Prospective substitute teachers must:

  • be at least 18 years of age;
  • possess at least a high school diploma

Hiring process for Classified Substitutes

  • Submit Online Application Here
  • New Hire Paperwork will be emailed
  • New Hire Substitute Orientation (will be scheduled once all paperwork is completed)
  • Background check
  • Substitute Online Training (App-Garden website)*
  • Approved by the RCSS Board of Education

 

Hiring process for Certified/Licensed Substitutes

  • Submit Online Application Here
  • New Hire Paperwork will be emailed
  • New Hire Substitute Orientation (will be scheduled once all paperwork is completed)
  • Background check
  • Certified Compliance Training**
  • Approved by the RCSS Board of Education

 

*For classified substitutes the virtual training is offered by App-Garden University.  There are many benefits to you as a substitute such as the ability to train anytime and anywhere you have access to internet.  You will also be able to review the course as many times as you feel necessary within your one-year enrollment in the course which begins on the date of the purchase.  The link for this training will be sent to you in an email once you have gone through the new substitute orientation and background check has been completed.

**For certified/licensed substitutes we are requiring to complete the compliance training that can be found below.  You will need to review each of the nine (9) materials below and then print and sign the Verification of Compliance Training form and bring with you to your New Hire Substitute Orientation.
